Men's basketball game notes vs. Mars Hill

By Lauren Phillips

The Bulldogs basketball team played an exciting game last night, winning with a score of 85-62. Head coach Brian Goode was dumbfounded with the turnout of the game. “I have no idea what happened,” said Goode, “It’s a product of the youth on our team.” One very important youth on the team was freshman Odell Turner from Charlotte; he was the second highest scorer of the night. Turner delivered his team to victory with 15 scored points, eight free throws and 17 rebounds. Turner feels as though being a young player helps him bring energy to his team, “with so many rebounds and passes, I help keep the team together,” said Turner. He also felt that being a young and inexperienced player forced him to share the ball more and rely on his teammates. “Our legs aren’t as good as the more experienced players,” he said.

The Bulldogs triumphed over the Lions and overall Turner was happy with the turnout of the game. “This was a big win for us,” said Turner. “We needed to win two games in a row to build momentum for the upcoming conference.”
